The New York Times recently published an article about spending 36 hours in Houston and although it was a cool run down of things to do in the H within 36 hours the truth is Houston is worth sticking around for more then 36 hours.
Here is my run down of things to do in HTown.
1. Discovery Green
Discovery Green has tons of cool things happening all year long from family events to enjoying a night solo around the park. I love Los Trompos (picture below) at Discovery Green right now it gives the park a cool vibe and it’s something everyone can enjoy.
2. The Houston Museum of Natural Science-Butterfly Exhibit
I absolutely love going to the Museum of Science. There is always something new to see and do. Recently some exhibits got moved around and the layout is so much cooler especially the dinosaur exhibit, it will leave you in awe. Plus the lighting is perfection, you will defiantly get some awesome pictures. You also must visit the butterfly exhibit. There is just something about being surrounded by butterflies. Make sure to visit the museum on Thursdays from 2-5PM and enter for FREE!
3. Cenntienal Gardens
And after the Museum make sure to cross the street to the Herman Park Cenntienal Gardens and walk up the 30 foot mount. The view is not too bad.
This has to be one of my favorite recent discoveries near Houston. This park has hundreds of different wildlife from around the world. The best part is you actually get to feed the animals. Plus the staff was really nice and welcoming. I can’t wait to go back!
5. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
Located in Stafford, TX this really is a true beauty within our city. Every time I go here I always get the best welcome and their volunteers are full of wisdom and gratitude. If you are open to learn and listen to something new I recommend you try to emerge yourself into the culture. Stick around for a prayer service and join along.
Join in on the fun at Wild West, even if you don’t know how to two step there is always someone willing to teach you our two stepping and line dancing.
Ok ok so the water is not clear blue but Galveston can be fun from their restaurants along Seawall to getting a FREE Ferry ride. It’s all about exploring and enjoying the scenery like a sunset ride.
Not a golfer? Not a problem. Top Golf makes the experience well worth it from the food to the drinks this is the place to be with your friends. Plus they have a live DJ mixing it up with the latest hits.
9. Pinots Palette
If you’re as artsy as I am then you will enjoy a painting class. Monday’s are usually cheaper then any other weekday it’s something relaxing to do with a friend or two.
And I know what you maybe asking …where to eat? Stay tune my recommendations are coming soon. What are some of your favorite spots in Houston? I want to hear all about it make sure to tweet me @ViriMal or drop a line or two below in the comment section.
Until next time,
